Meet Our Team

OUR VETERINARIANS

Dr. Jessa Kocher, owner

Enneagram 2w3, ENFP/J, manifestor, Ravenclaw

Dr. Jessa Kocher grew up in a small town in Illinois.  She attended the University of Illinois and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.  Dr. Kocher practiced at a progressive small animal hospital in North Carolina for a year after graduation before her love of the mountains prompted her to move across the country to Colorado in 2012.  She practiced and acted as Medical Director at a Colorado Springs privately owned practice that sold corporately during her 7-year tenure.  Corporate practice was not a good fit for her professionally, and thus her entrepreneurial dreams of owning her own hospital began!

Professionally, Dr. Kocher considers herself a generalist with a special interest in internal medicine, ultrasonography, soft-tissue surgery, and dentistry.  She loves solving puzzles and enjoys challenging medical cases.  Being thorough in both her preventative medicine and diagnostic approaches is important to her in order to ensure that our clients’ pets get the very best medical care.  “Becoming a veterinarian for me was a lifelong goal.  I grew up loving science and medicine, and I love that as a veterinarian I get to be a surgeon, an anesthesiologist, an ophthalmologist, a dentist, an internist, an infectious disease specialist, a pharmacist, a dermatologist, etc but also focus on preventative care and work closely with clients to help their pets live long, healthy lives!”

Outside of her work life, Dr. Kocher enjoys spending time in beautiful Colorado with her husband (Brandon), son (Elijah), and daughter (Aria) – all of whom you will likely meet helping out around the clinic!  In her spare time she enjoys reading, yoga, riding her Peloton, collecting and propagating houseplants, downhill skiing, jamming to Taylor Swift with her windows down, photography, and pouring into the community through The Success Collective.  Her family loves hiking, camping, and exploring the mountains.  At home she has two Australian Shepherds (Lyra and Khaleesi) and two cats (Gandalf the Grey Wizard and Coffee the Kitten).

Dr. Kocher values service focused on deep connections and giving back to clients, patients, staff, and community.  She can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members! To contact Dr. Kocher: drjessakocher@foxrunvethospital.com

Dr. Kristen Hehn, Medical director

ENNEAGRAM 1W2, ISFJ

Dr. Kristen Hehn grew up in a small town in Eastern Montana on a farm/ranch where her love for animals started working cattle. She started her career in veterinary medicine getting her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Montana State University. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 2006. In veterinary school she found her passion for small animal medicine and decided she was better suited for this, rather than large animal medicine. After graduation she returned to the Montana and North Dakota area where she practiced and owned her own clinic for a few years. She then decided she was ready for a new adventure and found herself headed to Colorado, where she has been ever since. She worked at a small animal practice in Colorado Springs for 13.5 years before deciding it was time for a change and that she wanted to practice in Monument, the community she calls home.

Dr. Hehn enjoys all facets of practice, but especially challenging medical cases, soft tissue surgery and dentistry. She enjoys getting to know her patients and their families in order to provide the best care suited for them.

Outside of work she enjoys exploring the beautiful Colorado outdoors with her husband, (Ryan), two daughters (Payton and Sophia) and their mini golden doodle (Tana). They enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, and seeing many sites of Colorado on their ATV. Dr. Hehn also enjoys riding her Peloton and watching her girls in their many activities: volleyball, swimming, soccer, gymnastics and helping in their classrooms at school.

Dr. Hehn is excited to join the team at Fox Run and to get back to a more small-town clinic and helping those in her own community. She looks forward to getting to know clients and patients in Monument and to providing exceptional veterinary care to each patient she meets. To contact Dr. Hehn: drkristenhehn@foxrunvethospital.com

Dr. Pegeen Henry

ENNEAGRAM 2

Dr. Pegeen Henry is originally from California and lived there most of her life (though she did spend a couple years living in Boulder when she was a young child)!  She moved to Monument, Colorado in the summer of 2023 when her husband retired to be close to family. She went to undergrad at the University of California in San Diego and then to veterinary school at the University of California in Davis where she graduated in 1993.

Right out of veterinary school she practiced mixed and large animal medicine for a few years before shifting her focus to small animal medicine.  Her favorite part of her job is supporting the human animal bond by supporting both the physical and mental well-being of her patients. She also loves working with working dogs (police dogs, seeing-eye dogs, hearing dogs, military dogs, etc.).

She shares a home with her husband Doug and her daughter Shannon.  Her son Nathan is in college in New York.  For years her family has raised puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind and they are currently training puppy number eleven.  She has two retired guide-dog Labrador Retrievers – Vincenzo (yellow) and King (black).  She also has three cats (Crystal, Steve and Cheeto) and a Quarter horse named Sonny. She bred Sonny’s mom and Sonny was actually born at her house!  In her free time she enjoys hiking and exploring Colorado, riding her horse, and quilting.

She is excited to join the Fox Run Veterinary Hospital family and is thrilled to be mentored by Dr. Kocher, Dr. Hehn, and Dr. Henry.

Outside of her work life, Dr. Katzer loves exploring Colorado's natural beauty. She spends her weekends finding new hiking trails and exploring our local lakes on paddleboarding adventures.  Her faithful black Labrador, Bodhi, accompanies her on many of these adventures. During quiet evenings at home, she loves a good jigsaw puzzle, listening to music, and watching movies. As an admirer of life's (and veterinary medicine’s) unpredictability, Dr. Katzer loves the quote, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.” which reminds her daily to embrace each moment and make the best of what life throws at you.

Dr. Katzer epitomizes a blend of professional excellence, compassionate care, growth mindedness, and attention to detail. We are so excited to have her as part of the team and know she will make a lasting impact in the lives of both pets and their devoted owners in our community! Dr. Shelly RODEWALD

Dr. Shelly Rodewald grew up in a military family, giving her the unique opportunity to live all over the United States, as well as in Germany and Japan. When her father retired in Colorado, she fell in love with the stunning mountains and the variety of outdoor activities they offered.

She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Program in 2001 and quickly found her passion in emergency medicine. However, after a few years, Dr. Rodewald sought deeper, long-term relationships with pet owners and transitioned to general practice, with a focus on internal medicine. She thrives on the complex challenges presented in this field, enjoying the mental puzzles that come with diagnosing and treating her patients.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Rodewald enjoys adventurous activities with her husband, such as scuba diving, skydiving, archery, and hiking. When she’s not exploring the great outdoors, she finds joy in quieter pursuits, including reading mystery novels and playing the clarinet.

Dr. Rodewald lives with her husband, their teenagers, and a lively menagerie that includes five rescue dogs, two turtles, a bearded dragon, and one opinionated elderly cat.

We are so excited to welcome Dr. Rodewald to our team! We look forward to her wisdom and calm way of connecting with both clients and staff, qualities that we believe will greatly enhance our practice and foster a supportive environment for everyone involved.

Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from the University of Oregon and is now preparing to further her career in veterinary medicine by enrolling in the Veterinary Technician program at Pikes Peak State College in Fall 2025. With aspirations of eventually attending veterinary school to specialize as an aquatic or zoo veterinarian, Elizabeth’s dedication to animal care is evident in her diverse experiences and passion for the field.  Elizabeth started at Fox Run Veterinary Hospital as a summer volunteer in June of 2024 and by the end of the summer transitioned to a parttime employee.

Born and raised in Michigan and having moved to Colorado for high school, Elizabeth’s journey has also taken her to Hawaii and Oregon, enriching her background and perspective. At home, she shares her life with Ruby, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel; Jake, a rescue miniature Australian Shepherd; and Cosmo, a Siamese cat.

Elizabeth actively volunteers at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in the Australia exhibit, where she works with reptiles and wallabies, and balances this with two part-time jobs. Her favorite quote, “just keep swimming,” is tattooed on her wrist as a personal reminder to stay resilient and keep moving forward through life’s challenges.

A unique aspect of Elizabeth’s background is her Finnish heritage and her memorable five-month residence in Finland. Her blend of academic knowledge, hands-on experience, and genuine love for animals make her a valuable addition to our team.
